Name: Jeremy
Spins as: SoftLord[DJ]

Softlord[DJ] started at house parties with two discmen and a $50 mixer 4 years ago. Since then he has spun (with brand new equipment of course), at various venues across the city as well as Fusion, Interim and several guest spots at Electra-City. He grew up with music, having been trained in classical piano for 8 years and amassing a record, cassette and cd collection of over 700 individual albums. Having grown up in the 80s, new wave is close to his heart, but he has also grown quite fond of an eclectic number of other genres both in his home listening and spinning, including trance, new wave, synthpop, electro, goth, and euro-dance.

No Conformity this week

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this terrible tragedy.

Name: Sean
Spins as: DJ Templar
Spun: September 4th

Templar got his start Djing at college where he spun primarly Industial and Goth rock at any opportunity. Fueled on cheap wine and crazy horse he would at times sleep in the record library in the backroom of the radio station. It wasnt until much later that he started djing at clubs mostly out of the need to play stuff that he wanted to dance to that no one else was playing . It was his girlfriend who asked him to dj for her at the now legendary (sic) Hell club at the Pyramid. After Hell there was Halo as well as guest spots at absolution and other deep dark and dank cellar pits.

Names: Alex & Alex
Spinning As: Alex English & Alex Malfunction
Spinning: August 21st, September 25

Alex English:
Originally from Houston, Texas where he has djed at the clubs Numbers, Paragon and Red Square. Alex English started djing industrial/synth and new wave/synthpop. Soon after he relocated to New York City where his interest in electronic music lead him to the newly formed techno community. Finding work at the legendary NASA where he djed in the chill out room ('92 - '93). It wouldn't be long until the music that he began djing would draw him back... having another stint with industrial/synth, now ebm, and new wave/synthpop he has djed for Malfunction, Beyond Exposure, Rubber Monkey Revenge, and ::Kindertraum::.

Alex Malfunction:

Alex M has been DJing for about 3-4 years which seems to make him the newest DJ on the Conformity roster. In 1998 he began promoting his first party, the fun but short-lived Paradise (Lost) along with Paw Lee and Mock-1. In his Buddha-like wisdom, Mock-1 set Alex on the path when he gave a half hour of his set to him one night at P(L). Three months later he began Malfunction Productions whose organizing and promotional credits include Malfunction, Addiction (the original home of NYC's Opiate Lounge event), Blue Monday, Oblivion, Glitch, and Kindertraum, as well as countless industrial and experimental electronic music events. Malfunction Productions continues to help bring some of the best electronic artists from around the globe to NYC including Daniel Myer, Imminent Starvation, Winterkalte, and Zipperspy. His DJing credits also include residencies at Zenwarp, 2001, and other events as well as techno and industrial guest spots around the city. He's also a member of NYC genre-benders, Melange, Silent Radio, and the Angztek Project and has performed live with Hymen Records' Architect.

Name: David
Spins as: DJ Omega

Spinning: August 14th

Thin leather ties, oh-so-retro poodle skirts, canvas high tops, and John Hughes movies that didn't suck. Visions of the 80's and all good things New Wave, they all still dance in this man's head. Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Stray Cats, Transvision Vamp, and of course the almighty Devo, all are just as deserving stars as Depeche Mode and Duran Duran. To make the cut it must be dancy, quirky and just... fun. The "bounce factor" is the only real key to what gets played. This means that much electro, some synth-pop, and even the stray silly-goth track will works its way onto the dancefloor.

Omega first spread his infectious good times over the Miami airwaves and the occasional private party. With music books in hand, he has played at several locations around Manhattan; NW3, Absolution, and Alchemy among them. His largest claim to fame though rests in Brooklyn at the night- Wonderland. There Omega, Ana Vice, Ultra V, and Rabbit ran what became the most successful night over the river.

He would also like to let you know he stays crunchy in milk.

Name: James
Spins as: J808
Spun: August 7th

James got started DJing 12 years ago in the early techno scene spinning small sets at various parties, but his break into new wave and synthpop was becoming one of the original DJ's at L.I. Detour. He has also worked as the resident DJ at CLOCKWERK-NEVERLAND and, more famously, at club NOSTRODAMUS and INDUSTRY. Later he was given the opportunity to spin Re:Mission and has been the resident dj there for 4 years now. He was also the backroom dj @ THE BANK for ALBION with ASH.

James' style has always been to bring back the idea of the remix and the beatmatched set and to help push new music as much as possible by introducing new bands. His style covers the broad aspects of synth and dance. His set this Tuesday will blend what he loves from synth with it's counterpart of future-dance-pop in hopes to bring back an interest in the groove of the music. As a DJ, he wants people to ask about what or who he's spinning, to him this was always the reason he enjoyed going out, to find new music and to hear something different.

Name: Merry
Spins as: Icycoil
Spun: July 17th

Icycoil got her start Djing at age 17 at a night called Neverland on Long Island, after which she managed to coerce various promoters into letting her do guest spots around the NYV goth scene. During this time she became the program director at the SUNY Oswego radio station, where she was a student. This encouraged her to slap a CD mixer on the good ol' credit card and begin practicing a lot, which led to her big break, doing an night called Synergy at the Korova Milk Bar. Synergy lasted nearly a year, starting out as a gothic, industrial and synthpop night but later moving toward the direction of techno, which has become her main interest. About a year ago, she bought turntables, expanding her repertoire to vinyl. Since then, it has been all about the records, both progressive and psy-trance, which crawls into her skin and makes those little prickly things appear on her arms. Icycoil's first Goa Trance party was Return to the Source at the Amazura Ballroom, and her life-changing Progressive Trance party was Paul Oakenfold at the Hammerstein Ballroom.
